'The group formed after getting together as 3 mates who had all fallen out of love with their previous bands. "It'd become well routine, i stopped enjoying it to be honest, i couldn't wait to get some time away and sort of re discover the feeling we had when i first started playing music" Talking to Jim before their imminent first gig at St Marys student Union he briefly reflects on the bitter ending of their old band, but this trio have clearly put to bed any demons he has. "I always intended on getting back in the scene, but it sort of fell into place quicker than i expected" He tells of the groups formation "Me and Sam were chatting about getting something going, and a week later i was out for a beer with Harry, just talking about music and we talked about finding a rehearsal room, and it went on from there really" As the band get ready to play tonight, the room is busy and rowdy after the first bands moody blues. When it's the turn of S.O.V to take the stage, they ooze confidence and unity as the music starts. The drums pound out alongside dirty bass lines and sharp guitar riffs to match. Sam stares out the crowd like he has something against them, whilst Jimmy gets in their face with swagger and arrogance. Harry pounds the skins with his complex beats some what effortless as the rooms attention is totally fixed. The four songs they play are impressive, so impressive that people in the room storm the stage at the end of the gig to talk to/congratulate or meet the trio. "When we played for the first time, it sounded so fresh and clicked instantly, i knew we were onto a good thing. It's just a case now of convincing our fanbase" They joke as they cautiously respond to questions of how far they can go. But based on tonights evidence there won't be too many people left unconvinced. Tonight was a crucial first win of the season for S.O.V and i for one will watch their form closely as it goes on.'
